Proper Application Development Creates Real Business Value

It is easy to understand why bring-your-own-device strategies and mobile solutions have become more popular in a corporate setting. The increased functionality of smartphones and tablets have made it possible to handle business-critical tasks from the palm of an employee's hand. All that's required is a wireless internet connection.

However, to get the most out of a mobile solution, IT decision makers need to do much more than just allow workers to use their iPhones and Surface tablets to check their email. A recent press release from 5app - an app toolkit vendor - discussed what businesses need to be aware of when looking for ways to connect with an increasingly growing mobile workforce.

The release quotes 5app's CTO Tim King. According to King, it is necessary for technology executives to understand the limitations of mobile technologies, especially the communications infrastructure, in order to develop applications that deliver real business value.

"When considering commissioning or developing a mobile app, you need to look over and beyond the normal design issues," said King. "Firstly, consider what devices you need to support from the start. If you are going to need cross-platform, think about it early - don't start with one device type and then consider moving to other platforms if the first is a success as this doubles, triples or even quadruples your costs."

He goes on to say that the mobile experience should parallel any other corporate solutions with quality performance, reliability, and availability. Failure to do this can result in a costly mistake that requires the entire project to be scrapped and started again.

A quality application development firm can ensure businesses of any size get the exact mobile program they are looking for.

How To Have The Ability To Persevere and Reach Your Goal

Fotolia_69817300_XS.jpg

1. Don’t take no for an answer

You have to make it happen even if the odds are against you, even if others tell you “you can’t do it”.  Understand that success often lies behind a thick wall of rejection. Don’t let that stop you. When you know you are into something special, you have to stand your ground.

2. Have a definite purpose

Take continuous action on your plan, close your mind tightly against negativity and surround yourself with people. A definite purpose backed by a burning desire for its fulfillment is what will allow you to reach your goal.

3. Fake it until you make it

See yourself already as the best you can be. Create pictures in your imagination of what you want to achieve. Visualize your goal to every last detail and you will be able to clearly define your road to success.

4. Have faith

Faith provides you with the power to persist, only you know what you are capable of.  Faith will provide you with inspiration, power, self-confidence.

Relationships are the Key to Team Collaboration

Fotolia_170970711_XS.jpg

Collaboration is part of your Social Skills - a component of your Social Competence.

While Social Skills, in general, is related to your adeptness at inducing desirable responses in others - Collaboration relates to your ability to work with others towards shared goals.

People who have this competence usually:

  • Balance a focus on task with attention to relationships.
  • Collaborate with others sharing plans, information, and resources.
  • Promote a friendly and cooperative climate.
  • Spot and nurture opportunities for collaboration.

Business is not only about efficiency; it is also about relationships, getting along, sharing, and creating bonds between co-workers and everybody involved from top to bottom. The group who does not share this emotional bond is more likely to become paralyzed, dysfunctional or even to disintegrate under pressure.
