Your Happiness IS Your Success

These days, a booming business is available to anyone, even you. Gary Vaynerchuck, author of Crush It! says not to measure your success by the wealth and grandeur of your business, but to measure it in happiness.

The secret to success is only made up of three simple rules: love your family, work super hard, and live your passion. If you are measuring your success in happiness, that first rule is crucial. Second to that, working hard may be an obvious rule for achievement. However, it is one of those things that are easier said than done. Finally, the key to your true happiness is living your passion:

“Are you living, or just earning a living?”

We as a society have shifted in the way we do things. With the invention of the Internet, we’ve been flocking towards the web to socialize, shop, find entertainment, and more. This is a gigantic opportunity for businesses to harness and take advantage of. With the global audience that has moved to the Internet, it is clear that businesses, too, must move to the Internet.

Now, personal branding has never been easier, and advertisements are found (these days, personalized advertisements) everywhere in the online world. The Internet is a moneymaking machine just waiting for you to learn how to use it. Using the Internet as a tool will boost the speed of your success, and minimize the money you would need to put in to make it flourish. Keep in mind that, “[these tools] are only as good as the person who uses them” (Vaynerchuck, 12).

You have to have passion and an excellent work ethic to make things happen. If you have the drive, you have the power and everything you need to start making money. However, this isn’t all about the money, this about taking your passion and finding a way for you to make a living out of it.

Remember, we’re only measuring success in happiness.

The Secret to Unlocking Innovation

Innovation brings success. Apple is the most successful example of innovation but there are many other companies which have been successful thanks to innovation.

The question is: what are the keys to innovation?

1. Have confidence in your abilities

More specific than having faith in yourself, it is vital to know unequivocally what you can bring to the table, and what you cannot. Know your strength, know your craft, whatever it may be, and hone it to the highest level possible.

Be an expert at what you love to do and make no apologies for your greatness. However, having confidence is not to be confused with arrogance. Know the difference.

Be the best, offer the best, be different than any competition.

2. Don’t be a fool, keep it simple

Great innovations make our world more efficient.  They are able to see a problem, simplify the problem to provide a simple and practical solution.

When solving a problem, ask yourself, “what process, service or product in our world is too complex, inefficient or poorly conceived.  How can I make it better, by keeping it simple?

This process takes discipline, it takes will, knowledge, research, time and focus – only thru these process will you be able to Innovate.

Moderation is the ultimate exercise of willpower.

3. Create the need.

In order to truly innovate, you must identify a need that is not currently met and fulfill it creatively.

Wherever there is a need, there is an opportunity for improvement. Innovators are able to think beyond traditional models and execute their vision!

Use Defining Moments to Delineate your Purpose

Fotolia_85502733_XS.jpg

Defining moment represents a moment in time that defines something, such as a person's success or failure, achievement or demise. A point at which the essential nature or character of a person, group is revealed or identified.

They are unalterable. They are memorable and you’ll usually remember the exact date and sometimes the exact hour that your defining moment occurred.

Our choices help define these events.  They are either negative or positive but rarely neutral.

However, the best description of a defining moment is that a defining moment brings you closer to discovering your purpose in life.

How can you identify and seize a defining moment?

Contribute to something larger than yourself.

Consider that the measure of true happiness is the extent to which we give. When we contribute to a cause greater than ourselves, we effectively find purpose.  Remember, you are not alone; finding purpose is a collaborative effort.

Keep your ear to the ground.

Opportunities are usually hidden and pervasive that it can be sometimes hard to identify and difficult to sort them out. Which ones should we go after, and when?

Maintain an open mind at all times. Often, the best opportunities are the ones that initially seem the riskiest; however never miss the ones that might be less risky – analyze any and all opportunities which present to yourself to determine which one brings you closer to discovering your purpose in life.

Be patient

Oftentimes, the defining moments of our lives are only realized in hindsight.  They cannot be forced nor forged. The might not be as distinct and grandiose; however, they will always be inspirational in fulfilling your purpose in life.
