Optimism is a part of your Motivation personality.
While Motivation, in general, relates to the emotional tendencies that guide and facilitate the reaching of goals; optimism relates to your persistence in pursuing goals despite obstacles and setbacks.

People who have this competence usually:

  • Are most of the time in good spirit, friendly and in a good mood
  • See people and circumstances in a positive light
  • Persist in seeking goals despite difficulties, obstacles, and setbacks.
  • Operate from hope of success rather than fear of failure
  • See setbacks as part of a learning process, where failures are always correctable
  • Consider every aspect of life to be manageable

People with optimism get their strength from hope, hope is what moves people who have a positive mind.and attitude. hopefulness is crucial when anyone undertakes a tough task or faces a tough moment.  In general, great achievers are those with the highest optimism about life and the future.

Change your Mindset, Change your Life

Whatever you think continuously will define what you experience in life.
Buddha said it best: “All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think, we become.”

It only takes some looking around to realize it is true; we create our own reality with our thoughts and our emotions –thoughts providing direction, our emotions supplying the boost to get there faster or slower.

You may argue that there are certain events that are completely out of our control, that we haven’t created them at all, and it might be so. But I believe it is our attitude towards those events what counts.

Some time ago I learned a formula from Dr. Robert Resnick which describes this attitude issue in a very simple way:

Event + Response = Outcome

Whatever Event we might be experiencing in life, it is, in the end, our Response what makes the Outcome what it is…
It is our attitude towards the problem and not the problem itself.
Our mindset and our emotional state can make the difference because they are both under our control.

Our human culture has the habit of negativity, and we even take pride in it sometimes, calling ourselves realistic, down-to-earth people; but we need to realize that expecting the worst as a general rule will only set things in motion for us to receive exactly that; the worst.

We are creators; we create with our minds and with our hearts; and whatever we expect, we’re eventually going to receive.
If we’d chose to expect –to build in our minds and in our hearts - the image of the best possible outcome, we’d also set things in motion to create it.
It takes some time getting used to the idea that we can actually make our own reality, but if we ever want to do it willingly, we need to remove our focus from the Event and place it on our Responses; make the best out of it, embed it with positive thoughts and emotions, and watch the Outcome getting better and better every time.

Do you want to know what kind of world are you creating for you now?
Pay attention to how you’re feeling in this very moment.
The quality of your creation will match the quality of your current emotions.

If you are feeling great now, then you are creating a world that will make you feel that way or even better.

Give it a try, and see it for yourself

Choose Self-Control, and Enjoy its Lifelong Benefits

With this title, you’d probably be thinking of that 80’s hit by Laura Branigan; well, if you’re over 40, that is; but it’s most likely that you’d be in your twenties now, wondering if I’m talking about discipline, state management, anger management or what. So, let’s get right down to the point.

Self-Control is about discipline, which ultimately means that whatever you promise to yourself, you make it happen no matter what. It is also about your mental and emotional state, and it definitely sounds like a fine tool to have available.

It’s interesting to note that self-control acts just like a muscle: it gets tired after repeated use and needs recovery periods afterward; but it can also be trained and built up over time by exercising it, just like you’d do at the gym.

The more you practice it, the better you get at it.

As in anything worth attaining, this takes time and energy to master –two of the scarcest resources in our fast-speed daily life, so by now, you’d probably be asking yourself “what am I going to get in return”, right?

Well, research shows these as some of the benefits you can enjoy when you achieve a high level of self-control:

  • Enhances decision making capability

Once we manage a certain level of self-control in any given situation, we can evaluate it better and come up with a enhanced decision because our minds are working on a higher level where the solutions are.

  • Increases your chances for success

You have more chances of moving past the volley of challenges you always find in the way and overcome them with persistence and dedication unavailable without self-control

  • Improves your focus

More often than not, we’re subjected to big amounts of pressure while solving our daily challenges; high levels of self-control allow us not to be distracted by negative thoughts and emotions and focus our energies on our tasks at hand instead.

  • Endorses congruence

The best way to keep our eyes on the ball whenever two conflicting desires show up in our minds. As we said at the beginning of this article, it helps us keep our promises to ourselves, no matter what.

Wrapping it up, self-control is one of the most important skills we can ever learn. Their benefits reach all areas of our lives, helping us make better decisions and create a great life as a result.

Go on, give it a try.

Cheers!
