The Importance of Thinking for Yourself

If you are an entrepreneur, it’s vital that you have a clear vision of what is true and what is not. There have been countless business ventures that are launched and crash to the ground about a second later. It’s important to reflect on these failures and be able to pick apart exactly what went wrong. Our ability to learn from our mistakes is a valuable capability that we must use in order to improve. This is actually easier said than done because determining a fault when there are so many factors is difficult to do.

There are popular beliefs that, since everyone thinks are true, are merely accepted without a moment’s contemplation by those who don’t care to look deeper. That is a huge flaw that we need to overcome. As individuals, we hold more power than you could possibly think. It is in our individuality that the whole of us as a human race is created. This is why it’s so important for each of us as individuals to really think through what we consider to be truths. This all ties back to your business. After so many failed business endeavors, the reason behind they’re shortcomings has been assumed to what is the more obvious reason for failure.

I challenge you to revisit some of the most remembered crashes of the economic world. For example, take another look at the Dot-com bubble of the late 90’s/2000, or the great recession of 2007 to 2009. There is always a great fall after reaching such soaring heights, but why those heights weren’t sustainable is what needs to be looked into. Deep, critical thinking and a constant debate is the healthiest way to overcome our challenges and move forward. This kind of thinking will bring the possibility of a fresh new future for not just your own business, but for us all.

Use This One Trick to Keep your Business Afloat

There have been plenty of promising businesses rising to the top only to reach the surface of the water belly-up with Xs for eyes. Let’s think about business as the sea and the sky. Start-ups always begin at the bottom of the ocean and struggle to swim higher.  We swim higher and higher until we reach the surface and find that we need to change to be able to fly higher. How do we do that?

It is necessary to change the direction your business is taking. To be able to jump from the water’s surface and soar higher yet, you’ll need to ditch the fins and grow a pair of wings. What does that even mean?

It means that at some point in the growth of your business, you’ll reach a plateau where you remain stagnant and unmoving until you change something. This is the surface of the water. Many businesses fail to change, and that is why you see so many dead fish in the water. OK, think of it like this: let’s say you have a business that sells health products originally targeted to young athletic men. It’s doing okay, but you know you’re not reaching full potential. You notice that your sales are largely made up of middle-aged women trying to lose weight, instead of young men. It would be foolish not to change your marketing strategies to draw more attention from those middle-aged women! It’s a terrible idea to ignore that strong section of your audience just because you don’t want your product to be for that crowd.

Change is a beautiful thing. Change whenever it best benefits your business. Don’t be afraid to harness your ability to adapt to the changing terrain and you will find yourself on the track to success.

Your Happiness IS Your Success

By Natalie Mansilla

These days, a booming business is available to anyone, even you. Gary Vaynerchuck, author of Crush It! says not to measure your success by the wealth and grandeur of your business, but to measure it in happiness.

The secret to success is only made up of three simple rules: love your family, work super hard, and live your passion. If you are measuring your success in happiness, that first rule is crucial. Second to that, working hard may be an obvious rule for achievement. However, it is one of those things that are easier said than done. Finally, the key to your true happiness is living your passion:

“Are you living, or just earning a living?”

We as a society have shifted in the way we do things. With the invention of the Internet, we’ve been flocking towards the web to socialize, shop, find entertainment, and more. This is a gigantic opportunity for businesses to harness and take advantage of. With the global audience that has moved to the Internet, it is clear that businesses, too, must move to the Internet.

Now, personal branding has never been easier, and advertisements are found (these days, personalized advertisements) everywhere in the online world. The Internet is a moneymaking machine just waiting for you to learn how to use it. Using the Internet as a tool will boost the speed of your success, and minimize the money you would need to put in to make it flourish. Keep in mind that, “[these tools] are only as good as the person who uses them” (Vaynerchuck, 12).

You have to have passion and an excellent work ethic to make things happen. If you have the drive, you have the power and everything you need to start making money. However, this isn’t all about the money, this about taking your passion and finding a way for you to make a living out of it.

Remember, we’re only measuring success in happiness.
